Person behind the Paint...

I've always been drawn to whimsical trinkety shops - found off the beaten track... anticipating a unique find... something to add character and charm to my home, my haven, my sanctuary....  Often finding the mainstream trending ‘theme of the moment’ plaques or signs – I really did want something more personal to me that evokes a memory or moment in time.

Over the years I have been continually inspired – and wondered if I could make my own plaques - if this was something I could do if I threw my heart and soul into.... well the latter bit was pretty much already done years ago, it was convincing my head to follow suit!  Caution to the wind was thrown and well - here I am...!

Embarking on my journey in creating handmade wooden plaques, Zimba Timba has already found itself a loyal customer base who have since returned for further orders  â€“ truly humbled and thankful for this!  As well as creating inspiring wooden plaques, I have lovingly restored a vast array of furniture pieces that were tired, dated and just needed a bit of Zimba Timba TLC.  I love the contrast of working in both areas.... the plaques for that inspirational side with the words it portrays, and the furniture for the new lease of life it will bring to someone’s home.

When one of my plaques or items of furniture are in the hands of its owner – I could not express the immense job satisfaction that ensues. Seeing their heartfelt reaction based on something I have created – is a feeling I cannot put into words.  This is certainly where I want to be and what I want to continually be doing for a very long time

After trying out various paints, tools etc, I settled firmly (and quite quickly) on the Annie Sloan range of chalkpaints, waxes and brushes to help me create my wooden treasures.

My often outlandish daydreams of starting my own business doing something I love – has become a reality. I thought long and hard on a unique business name – and having grown up in Zimbabwe – it was a no brainer that I had to encompass a place that holds the happiest of memories for me.... and so I present...

I hope my creations inspire & brighten your day
